Dear Families,
We’ve had a great opening to our school year! Thanks for your participation in our opening events and preparing our students for a successful start.
Our first day included a morning filled with meeting teachers and becoming acclimated to teams and rooms. The afternoon included an all-school assembly featuring Fish the Magish! In this forty-five minute program, Mike Fisher (Fish the Magish) helped our students look at the very serious subject of “bullying” in a fun and magical way. The students were entertained, especially when Mr. Churchill appeared to have a face lift! The serious message of bullying included the definition of a bully and the clear message that we will not tolerate students behaving as bullies at MCMS. The program was followed up with ice cream treats provided by our PTO.
Please consider having a discussion about the opening of our school year, including the importance of treating others with respect.
We hope to see all of you on the evening of September 12 for our first Book Fair, Band Booster Chicken Dinner, and our Team Open House.
Thank you for your continued partnership!
Sincerely,
Sue Kreuser
Dear Families,
Another school year is just around the corner! We are anticipating a great 2006-07 school year and are anxious to welcome back our returning students as well as our new incoming sixth graders.
Our families can expect a welcome letter the week of July 31. Students will be notified of their teaching team in this letter. More information, including class schedules will be distributed at our open house date on Wednesday August 23. Please note that we will be taking all student photos on this date, so all students should plan to be here on that date. For those families who will be out of town, we will have a retake day later in September.
School just isn’t the same without kids. We look forward to seeing you again at the end of August.
Sincerely,
Sue Kreuser
Dear Families,
One of our building goals this year is to increase the use of technology across all curricular areas. If this is the case, how can technology be considered dangerous?
As many of us know, the use of technology has increased a great deal in the last decade. For some of us, our days are filled with the reliance upon the Internet for personal and professional uses.
As a responsive middle school, we are educating our students on the many uses and benefits to utilizing technology, and specificly the Internet.
What could be the danger? I would propose that many of our students know more about their computers than their parents. I have first hand experience in raising a teenager that is much more adept at using the computer than both of her parents combined. Like most teenagers, our home computer is used for educational as well as social purposes. The social use creates a possible dangerous situation. Unfortunately, teenagers can be naieve to the world of the Internet. Sites like myspace.com invite young people to create their own sites, complete with photos and personal information that identifies them for the entire world to see.
I would encourage all families to have serious discussions about Internet usage. Does your student have their own web page? Do they know your expectations?
Let’s keep our kids safe! The use of technology is amazingly powerful…when used in the right way.
Thanks for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Sue Kreuser
Dear Families,
As we move into the month of March, great things continue to happen at MCMS! Thanks to all students, staff, and families for making this an awesome school!
The past few weeks mark several endings as well as new beginnings. We have just finished up our winter sports season. Our student-athletes made us proud as they competed their hearts out. Congrats to our boys and girls basketball teams as well as our wrestlers and cheerleaders. Many of these students particpate all year long, reprenting MCMS in positive ways. Thanks also to all of our parents for your unconditional support!
Just around the corner is our spring season, where our students are offered additional opportunities to compete on behalf of our school and have a lot of fun! Let’s hope the weather cooperates to get the season underway!
Soon, our band will be traveling to a variety of locations, representing our school and district in many competitions. These students are to be commended for the time and effort that they put into the program. Their hard work is bound to pay off with great performances.
Our testing season is also soon to be underway. Please stay posted to our website for all of the necessary information regarding these mandatory tests.
In the next couple of months we will be planning for the next school year. Important transition dates will also be posted on our website.
I continue to be amazed at the parental support and involvement in this school community. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Sue Kreuser
Dear MCMS Families,
We are approaching the middle of the 2005-06 school year. Where has the time gone?
Great things continue to happen at MCMS on a daily basis. Our staff continues to amaze me with their dedication to adolescent learners. Our students perform in our classrooms, gymnasium and community. There is so much to be proud of!
One of the best aspects of a school year is the natural opportunity to get a fresh start. That opportunity is just around the corner as we finish the current nine-week grading period. Please take an opportunity to ask your student about school, encouraging and recognizing the importance of giving 100%.
Perhaps you’ve had a chance to enjoy one of the recent band concerts. What a great program! We are fortunate to have DeeDee Phillips and David Fye on our staff!
Thanks to all of you for your support with the student-staff basketball games. A great time was had by all and there were no injuries!
Thanks for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Sue Kreuser
