What an awesome school community we have!
Thank you for your response to our needs! We look forward to the building improvements we will see because of your support!
I would like to extend a special thanks to Patrice Cader for her support in sponsoring a staff breakfast this week. What a great way to start the day!
As we move into the second grading period of the year, I would suggest that as a family you reflect on the start to the school year. What has been going well? What needs a bit of adjustment? It’s important to celebrate the successes along the way and recognize the accomplishments of our young people. We see growth in many areas including academic, physical, emotional and certainly social! For many of our students the transition into another school year has been a smooth one. They are finding a routine to balance their busy schedules and find success in all that they do. For some of our students, the transition has been a bit more difficult. If that is the case, please consider asking the following questions:
a. What kind of organization plan do I have?
Daily use of the planner, including recording of all assignments and perhaps class activities is a good start. Highlighting the homework once it is complete is a good way for students to chart their progress.
b. What routines have been established for homework? Is it being completed in the same place, void of distraction, every day?
c. Is there family communication about school on a regular basis? Open ended questions are best, such as, “What was the best part of your day?” Parents can expect more than a one word answer, which might be typical of a teenager. Continue asking and they will open up!
Next week provides families with an opportunity to learn more about our school year. Please join us for Family Night on Thursday November 18 from 6:00-7:30. Consider supporting our band program by having a family dinner in our cafeteria.
Hope to see you on Thursday evening! Thank you for your continued partnership,
Sue
